EICR electrical installation condition report FACTS

NOTE:   remember,  EICR  consists   of   3   separate   documents,  (NOT PAGES) if you do not have all 3 together , your EICR is NOT VALID, if you have only EICR form, but  nothing else, or any combination of the 3, but not all 3, your EICR is NOT VALID.

1 EICR electrical installation condition report has 2 pages minimum, could be more, this is  document 1,   pictures 1 and 2 >>>

2 CRIS condition report inspection schedule has 2 pages minimum, could be more, this is  document 2,   pictures 3 and 4 >>>

3 GSTR generic schedule of test results has 1 page minimum, could be more, this is  document 3 ,  picture 5 ONLY >>> , picture 6 is the MEWC (minor electrical work certificate) following UNSATISFACTORY outcome on the EICR

Basicly explained in simple terms (not electrical) , it works exactly as MOT of a car , EICR tells you what is the condition of your electrical installation in your premises in terms of SAFETY and, is it sound to be used in the future.

 >EICR> Only shows the condition of the installation, it does not include any remedial work carried out while testing, this option can be negotiated with your contractor in advance or afterwards to carry out remedial work in order to meet the requirements of BS7671 for SATISFACTORY report.

>EICR> The testing continues for about 3 - 5 hours depending on the complexity of the installation and the extend of testing agreed with the customer, during this time there will be NO ELECTRICITY in the entire premise.

>EICR> After the tests has been conducted , test results are recorded and compared with pass/fail values and the outcome can be 2 kinds  SATISFACTORY OR UNSATISFACTORY  .

SATISFACTORY outcome - This means everything is electrically safe in the premise under testing according to BS7671 no further action is needed.

UNSATISFACTORY outcome - This means that  some part of the installation (in some cases the whole installation) does not meet the legal requirements of BS7671 and a fault code will be given, usually for it to fail has to be   C1 code DANGEROUS or C2 code potentially  DANGEROUS both of these can have immediate remedial action necessary depending on the severity of the fault...that means that by law you have 28 days to repair the faults.

What is next if you have UNSATISFACTORY  EICR, well next thing is to sort out the faults that you have in your electrical system in order to meet the requirements of BS7671, NEVER DO IT YOURSELF CALL A PROFESSIONAL ELECTRICIAN, once the remedial work has been carried out to standard, MINOR ELECTRICAL WORK CERTIFICATE is issued to the person ordering the report and this MEWC will automatically turn the UNSATISFACTORY in to SATISFACTORY  EICR and that is it , you are all good.
